Overview

Located in the Cantonment area of Mussoorie, the Landour Clock Tower is reminiscent of a time gone by.  This clock tower was always used as a display name on the road signs of Mussoorie, with the locals using it as a landmark.  Even today, it continues to be a point of reference for the local people.

The Landour Clock Tower is located 5 kms from the Library Bus Stand.  It was established in the 1930 's by Ugra Saina Verma.  The location of the Clock Tower was earlier used as a police station which was used to guard the civil area and the cantonment in 1892.

The police station was later shifted to another location and replaced with a stone masonry.  Prior to the Landour Clock Tower, Mussoorie had its first Clock Tower at St. George's College, Mussoorie.  The sound of the clock chimes kept the animals away from the school.

The original Landour Clock Tower was demolished in 2010, which caused an uproar among the local residents.  The Clock Tower was reconstructed. The new building is two-storeys tall and has once again become a landmark in Mussoorie.
