Overview
Lakhamandal Temple is part of an ancient temple complex dedicated to Lord Shiva. Lakhamandal is formed from two words--"Lakh" meaning many and "Mandal" which means temples.

Located 128 km from Dehradun and 35 km from Chakrata on the Mussoorie-Yamunotri Road. Built in the North Indian Architectural style which is common in the Garhwal and Himachal state.
Lakhamandal Temple was built in the 12-13th Century in the Nagara style. A large number of sculptures and architectural members which are spread across the complex which suggests the existence of more temples in the area.
If we are to go by legend, it is believed that this area is where Duryodhana is believed to have planned to burn the Pandavas alive in the Lakshyagriha home (House made of wax).
The Shivling inside the temple is made of graphite which shines when water is poured on it.

Outside the main temple, there are two carved statues which are believed to be of Arjun and Bheem
