It is not difficult to find a temple in Haridwar as almost every corner has a temple!

Some of the important temples in Haridwar include:

  • Chandi Devi Temple:  This is an important temple of Goddess Durga.  This temple can be reached either through a steep climb that takes upto 45 minutes or you can take the ropeway which will get you there in a few minutes.  

  • Mansa Devi Temple:  This temple is named after Mansa Devi, a form of Shakti (Power).  Located on top of Bilwa Parvat, it is a one and a half kilometer climb to the top.  One can also use the ropeway to reach the temple and the ropeway is located 2 kms from the Bus Station and Railway Station.  

  • Daksha Mahadev Temple: Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this temple is located in the town of Kankhal.  This temple is visited by many in the month of August, the month of Lord Shiva.  Special rituals are also performed here during Shivratri.

  • Maya Devi Temple:  Located to the east of Har Ki Pauri, this temple is one of three ancient temples which still exist.  Inside the temple, one can find the idols of Goddesses Maya, Kali and Kamakhya.

  • Bilkeshwar Mahadev Temple:  Another temple devoted to Lord Shiva, this temple is walking distance from the Haridwar Railway Station.  The temple is surrounded by woods and lies on a slight hilltop.
