Shikhar Fall is an ideal place for a quick getaway from the city. It is a place where you can enjoy nature, trek and relax!
Being very accessible from Dehradun, Shikhar Fall is one of the most frequented waterfalls in the state. At just an hour's drive from ISBT Bus Stand (20 kms), Shikhar Fall is a year round tourist destination. From Dehradun, one needs to head towards the Rajpur Village, which is a 20 minutes drive. From Rajpur Village, it is another 3 km drive to Shahanshahi Ashram from where the walk starts. After another 700 metres, one will reach Makreti Gaon which is 500 metres from Shikhar Fall.
Popular as a picnic spot, one needs to trek uphill for 1 km to reach the waterfall, passing the shallow pool which has very clear water. There are around 22 falls on the way that one canOne can also find a variety of butterfly species and birds. The waterfall is surrounded by woodlands and mountainous terrain giving you a sense of seclusion. The water from these falls is also the main water supply for the city of Dehradun.

Enjoy an amazing view of the Shivalik Range from this spot. Grab a snack at the stalls available along the route to the waterfall from Shahanshahi Ashram. The ideal time to visit the waterfalls is between October and June. It is best to avoid going there during the monsoon season as the water levels rise.
